The prices of vehicles will go up if the production taxes on petrol and hybrid vehicles are imposed according to this year's budget, Chairman of the Vehicle Importers Association of Sri Lanka, Sampath Merenchige said.
He pointed out that the cost of a Wagon R vehicle would go up by Rs 250,000 while the cost of Alto cars would be increased by Rs 150,000.
Mr. Merenchige added that Axio cars would also be increased by Rs 600,000 in addition to the prices of Premier and CHR vehicles which would escalate by Rs 700,000.
Further, he said that measures would be taken to inform the people on whether the Luxury Tax which has been introduced in the budget, would have an impact on the prices of luxury vehicles.
