Vijayakala Maheswaran to resign

State Minister of Child Affairs Vijayakala Maheswaran has decided to resign from her ministerial position. 

The Minister made the decision after meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees last evening. 

The meeting came amid the uproar created over her controversial comments at a function in Jaffna earlier in the week where she stated that a return of the LTTE was necessary if Tamil people were to live freely.
