The Vote on Account (VOA) to cover Government Expenditure for the first four months of 2020 was passed in Parliament this evening (23) with amendments.
Though the VoA was passed without a vote, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) asked the Speaker to record its objection.
In presenting the VoA, the Ministry of Finance sought Parliamentary approval to obtain Rs 1474 billion to fund State expenditure from January through to April next year.
A VoA was presented in place of the usual Budget due to the upcoming Presidential Election on November 16.
