Voting for the 2020 parliamentary election concluded at 5.00pm this evening. The process of transporting ballot boxes to counting centres has now commenced.
Election officials put the overall voter turnout at 60%. An exact percentage is expected later this evening.
The ballot boxes will be kept under guard at the counting centres overnight. Counting of ballots is due to begin from 8.00am tomorrow.
The Election Commission earlier stated that final results of the parliamentary election can be expected before midnight tomorrow while the results of the preferential voting can be released before midnight on Friday.
