'Wele Suda' granted bail in money laundering case

Convicted drug dealer Gampola Vidanage Samantha Kumara, alias 'Wele Suda,' who was in remand custody over a case filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), was granted bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today.

The case against 'Wele Suda' had been filed by the CID under the Money Laundering Act.

However, he remains in custody as he is currently serving a death sentence for heroin possession.

On October 14, last year, the Colombo High Court sentenced 'Wele Suda' to death after he was found guilty of possessing 7.05 grams of heroin.
