The FR petition filed by parliamentarian Kumar Welgama seeking the prevention of his arrest by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) over an alleged financial fraud has been postponed until October 21 next year.
MP Welgama had filed the petition requesting the Supreme Court to issue an order preventing his arrest over certain irregularities that had occured while procuring and supplying tax exempted motor spare parts for the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) during his tenure as Transport Minister.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General today (May 09) informed court that the FCID was on the process of conducting preliminary investigations into the case.
The petitioner also told court that a 'B' report on the investigations into the case had been submitted by the FCID before the Colombo Magistrate's court.
