The OIC of the Wellampitiya Police has been transferred to the Galle Police Division, police said today (May 22).
The transfer had been approved by the National Police Commission.
The Wellampitiya OIC came under criticism after nine persons out of the 10 suspects who were arrested over the Easter Sunday attacks were released after being arrested.
However, the OIC had lodged a complaint at the Judicial Services Commission by citing that the Colombo Magistrate Court had released the suspects on bail despite the Police raising objections in that regard.
