A wildlife officer has died after being attacked by a wild elephant in Polkotuwa yesterday (Aug 6).
Police said the victim had been attacked when he had attempted to treat the injured elephant.
The deceased has been identified as a 31-year old resident of Meegalawa.
He had died while receiving treatment at the Mahawa hospital.
