President Maithripala Sirisena today said that as a Government which is committed to follow the philosophy of the great Anagarika Dharmapala, will create an environment where the Sri Lankans can stand up in this modern world as a wise nation while giving priority to our heritage and culture. President Maithripala Sirisena made these observations participating in the main ceremony , to commemorate the 151st birth anniversary of Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala , at the BMICH , today. The President also pointed out the importance of spreading the philosophy of the great Anagarika Dharmapala among the people to build a better society , where the society has declined to a low level to assess the value of a human life in financial terms. The main national ceremony of the series of programs held to commemorate the 151st birth anniversary of Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala under the theme of ”Let us create a generation which is dedicated to protect the country, language, ethnicity and the Buddhasasana” was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the BMICH, today. The president paid floral tributes to the statue of the late Anagarika Dharmapala. Dr. Praneeth Abeysundara, the Chairman of All Ceylon Buddhist Congress delivered the Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala Commemorative Lecture at the event. Maha Sangha, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, Ministers & MPs Secretary to the President, P.B. Abeykoon, state officials, intellectuals, artists and other dignitaries participated in the event.
