A new mother who had given birth only recently has fallen from a moving ambulance on the Southern Expressway. When contacted, expressway authorities confirmed the incident. The ambulance had entered the Expressway from the Godagama interchange.
After the woman fell off the ambulance, others in the ambulance had reportedly picked her up and put her inside again, before it resumed its journey towards Colombo.
Expressway officials said they suspect that the rear doors of the ambulance had not been properly secured, leading to the incident.
It is unclear if the woman recieved any injuries from having fallen from the ambulance.
