WPC rejects Development (Special Provisions) Bill
The Western Provincial Council today rejected the Development (Special Provisions) Draft Bill by a majority of 24 votes. A total of 52 PC members voted against the bill while 28 voted for it. Five members abstained.
The draft bill has run into controversy since its inception and has thus far been rejected by every Provincial Council it has been presented to.
Many PC members fear that the bill would dilute powers of the Provincial Councils. Concerns have also been expressed that the bill would pave the way for a so-called 'Super Minister' with extensive powers.
