Former Minister H R Mithrapala has passed away at the age of 73 today (Sept 18).
Mr. Mithrapala was a former parliamentarian who represented the Sri Lanka Freedom Party from the Kegalle district.
It is reported that he had passed away while receiving treatment at the Karawanella Hospital.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, addressing the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, said that both inequality and poverty ought to be regarded as a worldwide catastrophe that requires urgent attention.
Mannar residents vowed to continue their protest against proposed wind power projects on the main island despite they came under attack on Friday night (26) when they tried to stop transportation of equipments following Presidential directive to go ahead with the project.
