Sri Lanka became champions in Small Bore Light Rifle and Small Bore Silhouette Rifle categories at the International Metallic Silhouette Shooting Union (IMSSU) World Championship 2016 held in South Africa.
Sri Lanka fielded an eight-member team, including five from Sri Lanka Army as they won three golds and finished with an overall tally of 38 medals.
The three gold medals were won by Captain P.K.J.S. Gayanga of Sri Lanka Army in Small Bore Light, Small Bore Silhouette and Small Bore Light Rifle - Open Sight events.
Sri Lanka went on to win the Bronze Medal in the Big Bore Rifle category.
The victorious Sri Lanka team included Brigadier D.S.D. Welikala, Major C.S. Ratnayake, Captain P.K.J.S. Gayanga, Warrant Officer I.N. Weerasinghe, Corporal K.P. Gunawardena, all from Sri Lanka Army, Anil Gunawardene Ishara Abeysinghe from Magnum SSC and W.M.S. Manikdiwela from Hill Country SSC.
