Sri Lanka Athletics has decided to postpone the 99th National Athletics Championship, scheduled to be held at the Sugathadasa Stadium from May 20 to 23.
Known to be Sri Lanka’s premier athletic event, is held annually during the third week of May, was postponed after a special Executive Committee meeting held last week via Zoom technology.
Earlier Sri Lanka Athletics had made arrangements to conduct the 99th National Championship in during weekends of May due to the pandemic situation.
To limit a large participation, Sri Lanka Athletics also decided not to call in entries as they usually follow, but introduced criteria for athletes who would be eligible to take part in the national event.
