The upcoming India's white-ball cricket series against Sri Lanka is currently in jeopardy after the second member of the Sri Lanka team tested positive for COVID-19 a short while ago today (9).
Confirmed reports say that Sri Lanka team's data analyst Shirantha Niroshana was tested positive after a day batting coach Grant Flower was tested positive for Covid.
Health experts say that this development may have connection to Sri Lanka's recent tour to England, where the new 'delta' variant has been detected in England.
Currently all members of the Sri Lanka cricket team -- players, coaching staff and support staff -- are being kept separated in their hotel rooms and rounds of PCR tests are being conducted among the remaining squad members on frequent basis.
It is also said that the Sri Lanka team that reached the country after the England tour, may not be able to come out of the quarantine period on time for the Indian series, which begins on July 13, as another round of PCR test is schedule for June 11.
Under such circumstance, if the India vs Sri Lanka white-ball series is to go ahead, the home team may have to announce a different team with new members currently training separately at Colombo and Dambulla.
