St. Joseph’s College responded with 91 for the loss of 1 wicket against traditional rivals St. Peter’s College, who scored 270 runs for the loss of 9 wickets at the end of first day’s play of the 90th Battle of the Saints at the SSC ground on Friday (22).
Hirun Kapurubandara was unbeaten on 53 off 61 balls with four boundaries and three sixes in St. Joseph’s reply, along with Abishek Jayaweera, who was 23 not out after facing 70 deliveries.
For St. Peter’s, opener Dilana Damsara struck a 150-ball 103, inclusive of eight boundaries and four sixes, next to his opening partner Oveen Salgado, who hit 46 runs off 79 deliveries with seven boundaries.
Yenula Dewthusa claimed four scalps, while Manasa Madubhashana picked three wickets for the Josephians.
