Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced that it will continue the services of Rumesh Ratnayake as interim coach for the upcoming T20international series against Australia, beginning from February 11.
Ratnayake was appointed interim coach for Sri Lanka's three-match ODI home series against Zimbabwe, which the hosts won 2-1.
Ratnayake was appointed interim coach to fill in the position created after Head Coach Mickey Arthur parted with Sri Lanka cricket in December 2021.
"Rimesh Ratnayake has been appointed as the interim coach of the national team for the upcoming Sri Lanka Tour of Australia. He was appointed by the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket in consultation with the Technical Advisory Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket," a statement issued by SLC said.
However Ratnayake will not travel to Australia with the team, but he will join before the first T20I game, as he is currently in self-isolation having tested positive for COVID-19.
