Defending champions, Jaffna Kings, launched their title defense in convincing fashion beating Galle Gladiators by 24-runs in the Lanka Premier League opener on Tuesday at Sooriyawewa, Hambantota.
Batting first, Kings managed to muster only 137 with identical figures from Shoaib Malik and Dunith Wellalage, both hitting exactly 30.
Chasing that, Gladiators, though got a good foundation from captain Kusal Mendis hitting a 50, the rest left their ship abandoned. Eventually, failing to get off the mark beating the title holders
