Sadeera Samarawickrama's marathon 188 prompted him and his Tamil Union to take opening day honours at the final of the Major League Tournament on Thursday at the SSC.
Tamil Union batting first, was off to a strong start courtesy to the opening wicket pair, hitting 103. That also included Samarawickrama's pair Paranavithana also scoring a quick fire 54.
Ron Chandraguptha, too, chipped in with a 48, but narrowly-missed out on a half-century at the final.
Colombo Cricket Club toiled hard and eventually the national side duo - Vishwa Fernando and Lakshan Sandakan - found reward picking two wickets, apiece.
