Stephan Fernando, a 16-year-old student of Wesley College is going great guns as an emerging rider.
The Grade 11 student of Wesley bagged three wins at the Challenge Trophy Championship 2021, defeating well known champion riders to earn the cynosure as a potential rider who could bring glory to Sri Lanka.
At the Challenge Trophy Championship 2021, Stephan grabbed three titles.
He claimed the 125cc Racing, Super Motard Open 450cc and Superbike 1000cc events, defeating veteran riders.
Inspired by his father, Royce Fernando, a champion rider of his days, Stephan first took into riding as a 7-year-old and by today the youngster has reached the global stage representing his motherland. Under the Lion flag, he has won many international events.
Stephan has represented the country Sri Lanka at international events held in Malaysia, Philippines and other Asian countries and is currently gearing up for the Asian and International events to be held in the coming months.
He becomes the youngest rider to represent Sri Lanka at international motor racing events.
In addition to motorsports, Stephan is an active rugby player and presently he is a member of the Wesley College Under-16 team.
