Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh was out in a bizarre way on the first day of the ongoing second Test against New Zealand.
He was given out for attempting to stop the ball from going to the stumps off pace bowler Kyle Jamieson by handling the ball during the innings.
According to the rules, the batter is not allowed to touch the ball while batting, but he or she may use his or her bat or leg to stop the ball. However, Mushfiqur Rahim's action prompted the New Zealand fielders to appeal for the dismissal, and as expected, the umpires upheld the appeal.
