Sport

The Selection Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has picked a squad of 22 players for the upcoming white-ball series between Sri Lanka and South Africa, which begins on Thursday (2).

Dasun Shanaka continues to lead the Sri Lanka side, in which a number of players who stood out in the recent SLC Invitational T20 League are named.

However, the squad excludes Ashen Bandara and Dananjaya Lakshan, who were also on par in allround performances in the recent domestic competition, and Lakshan Sandakan, who have been consistent in the recent international games for Sri Lanka as a leg-spinner.

Former skipper of all formats, Dinesh Chandimal, makes a comeback to the national side after being dropped for three international series.

Kusal Perera, who was tested positive for COVID-19, has been cleared to join the squad in addition to Nuwan Pradeep, another experienced campaigner.

The white-ball series between Sri Lanka and South Africa will begin on Thursday (2), with the first of three One Day Internationals, followed by the remaining games on September 4 and 7.

The three Twenty20 Internationals will be played on September 10, 12 and 14.

All matches will be played at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
