Coincidental and identical individual scores from Angelo Mathews (58 not out) and Dhananjaya De Silva also 58, propelled their team towards clearing the deficit, which stood at 83, when Sri Lanka finished day-03 on 282 for five in the second day.
The former captain and De Silva shared a 102-run stand, however, exactly on the stroke of stumps the latter was dismissed off Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladeshi bowler, with the most wickets on the third day at Mirpur.
When the day resumed, though eyes were on captain Dimuth Karunaratne on his first hundred of the tour, he was only sent back soon.
It is since then, the duo revived the innings. De Silva was the quickest of the lot, scoring the 58 off 95, compared with first test’s centurion Mathews.
