The Dialog Schools Rugby League 2024 have been suspended until July 15, 2024 after Sri Lanka Rugby Football Referees (SLSRFR) decided to abstain from officiating for the next two weeks following last Sunday’s incident.
This decision follows an incident on June 30, where referees were allegedly assaulted by Science College supporters after the game between Science College and S. Thomas’.
The Sri Lanka Schools’ Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) has initiated an independent investigation into the incident, in addition to the ongoing investigation by the Mount Lavinia Police.
The SLSRFA has also issued an unconditional apology to the SLSRFR and has requested the referees to reconsider their decision, which has led to the suspension of the Schools ‘A’ Division League Rugby tournaments.
