The lackluster 94th National Athletic Championship came to an end on Sunday (10) at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Diyagama with three new Sri Lanka records being established from the three days.
However high jumper Manjula Kumara, who was given a free trail to qualify for the Rio Olympics, failed to live up to his expectations as he managed to clear only 2.25metres, 0.04 metres short of the qualifying standards.
The national records were established by Ishara Sandaruwan in Pole Vault, Ayesha Maduwanthi in Hammer Throw and Lakshika Sugandi in Heptathlon on the final day.
On Saturday (9) Kumara Karunathilleke bettered his own national record in Decathlon.
