The former president of the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka, Major General Palitha Fernando has been bestowed with the Veteran Pin of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Fernando received the IAAF Veteran Pin on Wednesday (19) at the IAAF Congress at Beijing, China in recognition of his long and commendable services for the development of Sri Lanka and World Athletics according to IAAF reports. Fernando is a past president of AASL and presently an Executive Committee member of the Asian Athletic Association.
