Athletics: ISAC 2018 from February 23 to 25 at Diyagama

Over 1500 athletes will take part in the 18th International Schools Athletics Championships (ISAC) 2018 to be held on February 23, 24 and 25 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex, Diyagama. 

The ISAC is being organised by Lyceum. Nugegoda. 

The event will be held under five age groups. 

They are Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 girls and boys. 

A total of 23 International schools will participate in the event featuring 106 events (girls and boys). 

The main sponsor is Pierson Education.

The main print and web media sponsor is Wijeya Newspapers. 

In addition there are the several co-sponsors. 

At a press conference held at the Lyceum International, Nugegoda where Palitha Jayatilleke, ISAC Director General said that to organise the event nearly Rs. Seven Million will be needed. 

The event was to be held at the Sugathadasa Stadium since that venue is still under construction it was decided to stage the event at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Diyagama. 

Last time too the meet took place in Diyagama. 

Constructions had to be done at the Diyagama Stadium to patch up the main track. 

The International Schools’ Athletic Championships (ISAC), which commenced in 2001 and was the brainchild of the Founder, late Mr. R I.T. Alles of Gateway College, has now established itself as the biggest national flagship sporting event in the school calendar of 23 International Schools affiliated with The International Schools of Sri Lanka (TISSL). 

TISSL member schools include Asian International School, Alethea International School, Belvoir College International, The British School in Colombo, Burhani Serendib School, 
Colombo International School Colombo, Colombo International School Kandy, 
Elizabeth Moir International School,Gateway College Colombo,Gateway College Kandy, Leeds International School, Lyceum International School Nugegoda, 
Lyceum International School Panadura, Lyceum International School Ratnapura, 
Lyceum International School Wattala, Leighton Park International School, OKI International School, The Overseas School of Colombo, Regent International College, Royal Institute Colombo, Stafford International School,St. Nicholas’ International College and Wycherley International School.
