Lack of adequate facilities and venues has compelled Sri Lanka Athletic Association (SLAA) to forgo the South Asian Junior Athletics Championship (SAJAC) according to information. Accordingly SLAA have made an official request from its Bangladesh counterparts to take over the event but so far have not received any positive responses. It is learned that due to mishaps in refurbishment of the Sugathadasa Stadium, the only international standard athletic venue available in Sri Lanka, SLAA has found it difficult to host the event.
