Sprinter Kalinga Kumara, who is serving a ban after failing a doping test, is likely to receive an extension from being barred from athletics, after his 'B' sample test has confirmed be have included a banned substance.
The Sri Lanka Anti Doping Agency (SLADA) has already notified the Sri Lanka Athletic Association of the result of the 'B' sample.
Kumara was banned after testing positive for using a banned substance following his remarkable performance at the Sri Lanka Army Athletic Meet 2018, held in October last year.
After Kumara received a banned based on the 'A' sample result, the athlete sought a ‘B’ sample test earlier this month.
Kumara clocked a rare sub 46 seconds in the Men's 400metre event last year, reaching his personal best of 45.99seconds at the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta.
He was the only sprinter to clock under 21 seconds in the Men's 200metre event, setting a new meet record at the Sri Lanka Army Athletic Meet 2018.
Kumara is likely to receive a ban up to four years according to SLADA regulations.
