Sri Lanka’s Athletic Association (SLAA) officials have decided to send a pruned down contingent of four athletes for the IAAF World Youth Championships to be held in Cali, Colombia from July 15 to 19. The SLAA officials have only picked the medal winners of the recently concluded despite many reached the qualifying standards for the global event. Asian Youth Athletics Championship medal winners Yamani Dulanjali, Roshan Dhammika, Dharshana Rajapaksa and Chamal Kumarasiri will be the four athletes representing Sri Lanka at the IAAF World Youth Championships. Sri Lanka usually sends all athletes who had reach qualifying standards for the world event but according to its top officials the SLAA had to change this policy at least for once largely due to financial constraints.
