The names of Manjula Kumara and Sudesh Peiris have been nominated to the National Olympic Committee (NOC) to lead the Sri Lankan contingent for the upcoming South Asian Games (SAG) to be held in Shilon, India.
The Executive Committee of the NOC was due to sit for a meeting on Monday (25) to finalise the appointment of the captain to the touring party of Sri Lanka for the SAG.
The NOC has officially informed its affiliated sports governing bodies, who are taking part at the SAG to forward their nominations as captain of the Sri Lanka team.
So far only the names of Kumara and Peiris have been received by the NOC.
Kumara, the national high jumper, has represented Sri Lanka at 2004 Athens Olympics and has won a gold medal at Asian Games held in China in 2009.
Weightlifter Peiris has won a silver medal in the 62kg category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
The 122th SAG will be held in Guwahat and Shilon in India from February 5 to 16.
