Hiruni Wijayaratne, a Sri Lankan athlete based in the United States of America, has qualified for the London World Athletic Championship after her performance of 2 hours, 43.31 minutes in the Eugene Marathon.
Wijayaratne was placed 11th among 100 runners in the Eugene Marathon which was won by Steve Dekoker with a timing of 2 hours and 29.46 minutes.
Wijayaratne's timing is the second fastest recorded by a Sri Lankan after Niluka Rajasekera, who participated in the Rio Olympics and the Hong Kong Marathon with a timing of 2 hours and 40.7 minutes.
