Badminton: Yukthi BC, Inter Ocean emerge top runners at WP Inter-Club Championship

Yukthi Badminton Club Men and Inter Ocean Sports Club Women emerged 'A' Division champions to win the Mobitel Challenge Trophy and Flex Trading Challenge Trophy respectively, at the 43rd Western Province (WP) Inter-Club Badminton Championship concluded at the St. Thomas' College Gymnasium last weekend. 

A total number of 65 Men's teams and 26 Women's teams competed in this year's tournament sponsored by McLarens Holdings Ltd., Nestle Lanka, Flex Trading and Izosports. 

The WP Badminton Association (WPBA) is one of the most active and popular BAs affiliated to the Sri Lanka Badminton Association (SLBA). 

Rasindu Hendahewa of Yukthi Badminton Club was adjudged Player of the Tournament.

Men: 

'A' Division: Yukthi Badminton Club beat McLarens Sports Club (3-0) 

'B' Division: McBertan Sports Club beat Old Nalandians Badminton Club (3-2) 

'C' Division: Son's of Victoria Badminton Club beat Panadura Recreation Club (3-2) 

'D' Division: Bodyline Badminton Club beat Son's of Victoria Badminton Club (3-0) 

Over-45: Otters Aquatic Club beat Shuttle Power Badminton Club (3-1) 

Under-19: The Saints Badminton Club beat Wijerama Youth Badminton Club (3-2) 

Under-15: Silver Shuttlers beat Learn to Win Badminton Club (3-0) 

Women: 

'A' Division: Inter Ocean Sports Club beat Aponso Badminton Club (2-0) 

'B' Division: Son's of Victoria Badminton Club beat Shuttle Power Badminton Club (2-0) 

'C' Division: SLIIT Badminton Club beat Kalutara Dist. Badminton Association (2-1) 

Under-19: ABD Shuttlers beat Krish Badminton Club (2-0) 

Under-15: Niluka Karunaratne Badminton Club beat Avikans Badminton Club (2-0)
