The 77th Layton Cup Boxing Championship will begin today (14) at the Royal MAS Arena in Colombo.
The five-day competition will include events under 10 weight categories for Men and Women with bouts of three minutes and three rounds.
Pugilists who had recorded wins at the Intermediate, Novices, Junior National and Stubbs Shield competitions will be eligible to participate in the Layton Cup Championship.
So far 102 male and 36 female pugilists have registered for the event.
Last season Thiwanka Ranasinghe of Hela BC emerged the Best Male Boxer while Karishmi Dharmathilleke of MAS Unichela became the Best Female Boxer.
