Sri Lankan boxer Dinidu Saparamadu has qualified to participate at the forthcoming World Boxing Championship scheduled to be held from August 25 to September 2 in Hamburg, Germany.
Saparamadu who takes part in the 64kg weight category has had a successful international stint this year having won two gold medals first in the international triangular boxing meet held in Slovakia where he was adjudged the best and emerging champion at the recently concluded Taiwan City Cup boxing meet held in Taiwan.
The win in the Taiwan City Cup was achieved with ease when he outfoxed his Korean opponent Jang Byeong Hee in the second round to gain a knockout victory.
Saparamadu who represents MAS Slimline BC and his participation at the World Boxing Championship had been confirmed after his success at the Asian Boxing Championship held in Tuscan, Uzbekistan in May this year where he earned the rank fifth in the Asian region.
Saparamadu will take wings to Germany on August 22 and will be accompanied by his coach and manager.
