Boxing: Slimline BC emerge 93rd National Championship winners
Slimline Boxing Club clinched the Sir William Manning Challenge Trophy after becoming the Best Team and overall champions at the 93rd National Boxing Championship held at the Royal MAS Arena in Colombo.
Slimline BC claimed four gold medals, a silver medal and four bronze medals to clinch the overall title.
Unichela Boxing Club, who captured seven gold and three silver medals, won the Neiva Embuldeniya Challenge Trophy for becoming the Best Women's team.
In addition Sanjeewa Nuwan of Army BC and Nadeeka Pushpakumari of Unichela BC were adjudged the Best Men’s Boxer and Best Women’s Boxer awards respectively.
Police BC pugilists I.P.R.S. Ilangarathna and K.V.L. Eranda were adjudged the Best Losers in the Men’s and Women’s categories respectively.
Closer to 90 pugilists representing 11 clubs from Sri Lanka competed at the four-day event that was organised and conducted by the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka.
