Sri Lanka Air Force pair Dineth Dulakshan and Avon Wickremasinghe won the Men's Doubles championship, defeating Kavinda Pethum and Bawantha Pansilu of St. John's College, Nugegoda, 2-1, while Samudra Devi BV's Dilsha Prasadini and Vindy Dilanya beat Yeshani Kaushalya and Deshani Kaushalya of Mahamaya BV, Nugegoda, 2-0 to clinch the Women's Doubles event at the Midyear Novices Carrom Championship 2018, at the Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) Headquarters, Kohuwala.
The tournament was conducted in 4 categories- Men's and Women's Singles and Men's and Women's Doubles, with over 350 competitors islandwide competing.
Nalin Jayashantha and Dushyantha Nadeeshan of Sri Lanka Army (1/0) and Masha Nirmani and Nethma Sewmini from Mahamaya BV, Nugegoda, (1/0) secured third places in the Men's and Women's Doubles respectively.
Preliminary Rounds of Men's and Women's Singles commenced yesterday and the Final Rounds will be held on July 28, 29.
