After the game of carrom was introduced as an event of the National Sports Festival, several provincial level matches held at Eastern Province Rural Industries Department premises, Trincomalee in Eastern Province in collaboration with Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) recently.
This tournament was organised under the directions of M. Madivannan Director Sports (Eastern Province) and A. H. Wimalasena, a senior sports officer.
Over 100 players from Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts took-part at this tournament.
Subsequently, a carrom coaching camp also was organised for the sports officers and coaches in the Eastern Province.
Thumula Naotunne General Secretary CFSL, H Upali Perera VP, Sunanda Kodagoda Assistant Treasurer and Media Officer of CFSL, J.N. Abeywardhana coach and senior national player, Jagath Suraweera Senior Umpire and Anas Ahamed National player were represented CFSL.
At the end of this programme, three District Associations were formed and awarded certificates to the participants for the Carrom coaching camp/workshop.
