Minister of Sports, Faiszer Musthapha has appointed former national cricketer Ashantha de Mel as the Chairman of the Selection Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
The Minister of Sports, according to a communiqué appointed the National Selection 'as per the recommendations of the Cricket Advisory Committee'.
The remaining members under De Mel appointed are Brendon Kuruppu, Hemantha Wickramaratne and Chaminda Mendis.
"Minister of Sports, Faiszer Musthapa met with Graeme Labrooy and the rest of the members of the previous National Selection Panel at his office and thanked them for the services rendered towards Sri Lanka Cricket, as national selectors," the SLC Press Release further stated.
The first task of the new selection panel will be to select the squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka's tour to New Zealand.
