Former Isipathana College, St. Peter’s College and BRC cricketer Ashok Vitharana passed away on Tuesday (27). Vitharana played cricket for St. Peter’s from 1976 to 1977 while representing the college senior rugby team in 1977. He represented BRC from 1976 to 1980 and was employed at the National Lotteries Board from 1985 until the time of his death. Vitharana established a batting record while representing BRC by putting on 150 runs for the ninth wicket against SSC in 1979. His funeral will take place at 4.00pm on Sunday (February 1) at the Baddegana Cemetery in Kotte.
