Cricket: ICC clarifies on Kusal Perera’s anti-doping sample collection

Sport

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made a clarification on the collection of Sri Lanka opener Kusal Perera’s positive samples were taken on October 12, during the West Indies Tour of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) issued a media statement saying that the samples were collected on October 12 during the Pakistan Tour of Sri Lanka, which apparently took place during June and July.

“The sample Perera provided in an out-of-competition test, which was conducted on 12 October 2015, was found to contain the presence of a Prohibited Substance (in the category of non-Specified Substances),” the ICC states in its official website.

The ICC website states that Perera had provided the sample two days prior to Sri Lanka's Test match against West Indies in Galle.

After testing positive and provisionally being suspended, Perera was withdrawn from Sri Lanka's ongoing tour of New Zealand.

Perera had stated that he is ready to go for a ‘B’ sample test.
