The International Cricket Council (ICC) has agreed to extend the deadline for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to conduct the elections on or before February 9, 2019 after both parties met for a vital round of discussion in Dubai on Wednesday (29).
Both delegations of the ICC and SLC have agreed on certain terms and conditions, which the SLC should adhere to in the future.
Among the matters discussed, appointing of an election committee took the fore as it wholly depends the flow and conduct of the elections.
"The election committee is to be appointed by the general body of the SLC consisting of two retired judicial officials of the High Court and above, and a retired senior member of the Elections Department or Commission of Sri Lanka or any retired public official with experience in conducting elections," international media reported.
However Sri Lanka's voting rights have not been revoked even after the discussion.
The Sri Lanka delegation included -- Sports Minister- Faiszer Musthapaha, Competent Authority of SLC- Kamal Padmasiri, CEO of SLC- Ashley de Silva and Deputy Solicitor General- Sumathi Dharmawardhana.
Chairman Shashank Manohar and CEO David Richardson represented the ICC.

The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
