The opening ceremony of the 2nd Matara Super League T 20 (MSL T20) cricket tournament organised by the Matara District Cricket Association (MDCA) will be held next Wednesday (9) and the tournament proper get underway on Friday (11).
Twelve teams namely – title holders -- Old Thomian Cricket Club, Old Servatians SC (runners-up), Old Rahula SC, Prisons Sports Club, Gandara SC, Sports Zone, Morawaka SC, St Servatius College, Rahula College, St Thomas College, Hambanthota CC and Matara Sports Club will be drawn in four groups and will compete on a league basis.
However it will be a knock out from the from the quarter-final stage onwards according to chairman of the MSL T 20 organising committee D P M Chamli Waidyarathne.
“The league tournament will start on the 11th with two games being played each day. The finals will be on August 20. All matches will be played at the Uyanwatta stadium Matara” he added
