Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe paid visit to the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Sooriyawewa, Hambantota on Tuesday (23).
According to a media communiqué issued by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Prime Minister Wickramasinghe had discussed on how to maximise the utilasation of the cricket stadium.
“The Prime Minister was welcomed by President of SLC, Thilanga Sumathipla. Hambantota District MP Sajith Premadasa together with Sagala Rathnayake too accompanied the Prime Minister on this tour,” the SLC statement said.
“After a brief tour of the stadium, the Prime Minister and President of SLC together with officials of SLC had discussions as to how to sustain and maximise the utilisation of the stadium in the future. At this discussion the Prime Minister agreed to assist SLC with hotel facilities in the vicinity of the stadium for the benefit and convenience of the visiting teams,” the statement added.
