There are ominous signs that the SLC Annual General Meeting scheduled for May 31 would be postponed.
According reliable sources a case has been filed in the Colombo District Court – 3 by the Mutwal Cricket Club against Sri Lanka Cricket seeking a writ against SLC to allegedly defer the AGM and the hearing to be taken up on 28 May.
Interestingly, Mutwal Sports Club is one of the twenty eight seconders to the candidature of Thilanga Sumathipala.
In this instance Mutwal SC would be the plaintiff against Defendant who would be the head of the SLC – Sumathipala himself and the SLC.
It is also learned that beside the 1800 page petition filed by Presidential candidates Nishantha Ranatunga and Jayantha Dharmadasa are also contemplating challenging the conduct transpiring from the run up to the election process.
However the newly appointed Elections Committee has already queried as to why Dharmadasa’s application should not be rejected as his application does not comply with stipulated requirements.
