Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) to construct a cricket ground in Padukka.
According to the MoU, state telecommunication service provider SLT will do the initial preparation work of the ground while SLC will build cricketing facilities, the local cricketing body said.
Among the facilities would be the setting-up of five centre pitches, player dressing rooms, side wickets for training, effective and efficient drainage systems and other necessary facilities.
The ground which would be constructed on a 36 acre land belonging to the SLT Campus would be overseen by a Management Committee formed by SLC and SLT.
Provincial and first class matches, and also matches with visiting emerging international teams are expected to be played at this venue.
