Four Sri Lankan swimmers failed to go beyond their respective heat rounds at the Commonwealth Games 2018 today (9).
The four athletes were Akalanka Peiris (Men's 200m Backstroke), Vinoli Kaluarachchi (Women's 50m Backstroke), Kyle Abeysinghe (Men's 50m Freestyle) and Cherantha de Silva (Men's 50m Freestyle).
Peiris clocked 2:11.56 in the Men's Backstroke Heat 3 event to finish seventh while Kaluarachchi was placed eighth in the Women's 50m Backstroke Heat 2 with a timing of 31.02secs.
Abeysinghe clocked 23.73secs to finish fourth in the Men's 50m Freestyle Heat 5 but failed to qualify for the semi-final as De Silva clocked 24.29secs to finish last Men's 50m Freestyle Heat 8.
