Sri Lanka was disqualified in the final of the Men's 4x100m Freestyle Swimming event at the Commonwealth Games 2018 today (6).
Competing in Lane 8, Sri Lanka however managed to clock 3:23.44 but were later disqualified due to a false start by one of the team members.
Earlier the Sri Lankan swimmers clocked 3:22.84 in the semi-finals to qualify for the final.
Australia won the gold medal of the event, clocking 3:12.96 followed by England (3:15.25) who won the silver medal and Scotland (3:15.86), who claimed the bronze medal.
Matthew Abeysinghe, Kyle Abeysinghe, Cherantha de Silva and Akalanka Peiris represented the Sri Lanka Men's relay team.
The timings of the swimmers were -- Matthew (49.53secs), Akalanka (52.19secs), Kyle (50.79secs) and Cherantha (DSQ).
