The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) has suspended Army Sports Club player M.A. Asikur Rahman for three matches in the ongoing Dialog Champions League Super 8 Football Championship.
Renown Sports Club made a protest to the FFSL against Army Sports Club for fielding an ineligible player during the ongoing Dialog Champions League 2016 Football tournament.
"Renown SC submitted a protest against SL Army SC regarding the involvement of an ineligible player (M.A. Asikur Rahman) in the Super 8 match which was held on January 15, 2017," the FFSL media unit issuing a communiqué stated.
"The inquiry of the above incident was held on January 18, 2017 at FFSL Headquarters in Colombo. The competition committee found sufficient evidences of the incident, it was clear that M.A. Asikur Rahman is yellow carded in his previous two (2) matches and suspended for one (01) match. But, SL Army SC have fielded him for the above match," it added.
Accordingly the Competition Committee of FFSL sighting the evidences gained unanimously decided award the match by 3-0 in favour of Renown SC and suspend Army's Asikur Rahman for three matches conducted by FFSL with the effect from January 15, 2017.
