Gelioya FC overcame Renown SC 3-1 on a penalty shoot-out in the final of the Premier League Division II, 2016 Football Tournament to emerge champions.
The game took place at the Jayatilleke Stadium, Nawalapitiya on Saturday (11).
With this win Gelioya FC were promoted to the Division I tournament in 2017.
The tournament was conducted by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka where 93 teams in Division 2 contested.
The winning team received a cash award of Rs. 200.000 and the runners-up were in line for a cash award of Rs.100, 000.
In the tournament Gelioya beat Anurudhians SC 1-0, overcame Young Marians 5-1, beat Young Mates SC 3-1, beat Small Drydon SC 5-0, drew with Middle X SC 2 all, drew with Singing Fish 2-2 and beat Pioneer SC 3-0.
In the first match of the semi-finals played on a home and away basis with Great Star SC, they drew the first match one all at home and in the return, won 1-0.
